Welcome to the European Association for Traditional Tibetan Medicine - EVTTM Yuthok ! བཀྲ་ཤིས་བདེ་ལེགས་།།

(Europäischer Verband für Traditionelle Tibetische Medizin)

This homepage offers a new digital platform and network for specialist and objective information on educational centres, schools and physicians of traditional Tibetan medicine (TTM) – also known as Sowa Rigpa, the ‘science of healing‘ (Tib. གསོ་བ་རིག་པ་) – in Europe with reference to Asia. Please note our activities and projects, latest conferences and academic research on our news page, listed also in the sidebar menu.

We support the official recognition of Tibetan medicine alias Sowa Rigpa both nationally and internationally as one of the Asian medical traditions within Europe and as Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) with UNESCO. In particular, we support the certification of physicians and therapists trained in professional TTM/ Sowa Rigpa schools in Europe and from Asia ( see under contacts ). We also lay out the present situation and regulations of Tibetan practitioners and phytotherapy in some European countries.

Click here for more information and a first call to support TTM/ Sowa Rigpa as Intangible Cultural Heritage with UNESCO  ( activities ). Also, we inform you about some of the latest research on Tibetan medicine and on Tibetan medicinal plants in Asia ( reports ). We also support   aid projects in Asia – specifically local Tibetan medical clinics, sustainable protection and cultivation of medicinal plants as well as basic primary health care of local communities in the Himalayas and Tibet. Furthermore, our digital platform offers space for dialogue between TTM and CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine).

We are looking forward to your kind help or suggestions you may offer and welcome your membership and sponsorship, including for various aid projects. A  membership offers a range of advantages and supports Tibetan medicine/ Sowa Rigpa at large, and therefore also practitioners of Tibetan medicine in Europe. We look forward to your feedback und also donations for supporting the activities of our association!

with best wishes and a warm Tashi Telek from the board of directors

Dr.tib.med. Dönckie Emchi (director, physician of Tibetan medicine)
Dr.phil. Mona Schrempf (vice-director, medical anthropologist)
